Toronto, April 30 -- Indo-Canadian leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP) Jagmeet Singh announced his intent to resign from the post in a night that saw him losing his own riding (constituency) of Burnaby Central in British Columbia. The party had propped former PM Justin Trudeau in power, after he failed to retain even his own seat in the Canadian federal election. It was a terrible outcome for Singh personally as he ended up third in the constituency, with 18.1% of the vote share, and trailing both the Liberal Party's Wade Chang and the Conservative James Yan, both of whom were thousands of ballots ahead of him.
