India, Jan. 31 -- Addressing a joint sitting of Parliament on Friday, President Droupadi Murmu said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government has ensured balanced development of the country and taken efforts in "ending feeling of alienation" in people of northeast.

"My government has understood these feelings of the people of the northeast and ended the feeling of being a door to their heart.. The government has done the work of more than 10 peace agreements," President Droupadi Murmu said, after which a commotion was heard in the backdrop

President Murmu also offered condolences over the stampede incident at the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj that killed at least 30 people on Wednesday.
