He kicked off the year by winning the first major event in Wijk aan Zee, defeating reigning world champion Gukesh D in tiebreaks. On Friday, he saw himself through to his third tournament win in less than six months in Tashkent. The 19-year-old Indian won the UzChess Cup after the tournament was decided through a three-way blitz playoff between him, Nodirbek Abdusattorov and Javokhir Sindarov. Remarkably, he has won all three of his classical tournaments this year through tiebreaks.
