India, Nov. 9 -- The Azad Maidan police have issued summons to Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange-Patil and several of his associates in connection with the five-day protest held at Azad Maidan from August 29, which had led to major traffic disruption and large-scale littering across south Mumbai. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation later cleared more than 100 metric tonnes of garbage from the protest site and surrounding areas.

The summons come a day after Jarange-Patil alleged a plot to assassinate him, naming NCP MLA and former minister Dhananjay Munde as the alleged mastermind.
