PM Modi lauds world champs after victory
New Delhi, Nov. 7 -- The World Cup-winning Indian cricket team, led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence here on Thursday night in an event that witnessed the latter shower lavish praise on the world champions. India ended their wait for an ICC title in style last Sunday, beating South Africa by 52 runs in Navi Mumbai.
"You have done a great job. In India, cricket is not just a game. In a way, it has become the life of the people of India. If there is good happening in cricket, India feels good and even if there is a little bit of wrong happening in cricket, the whole of India feels bad," Modi said.
