New Delhi, April 15 -- A petition on Monday was filed in the Supreme Court seeking a court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the violence during protests against the Waqf law in Murshidabad district of West Bengal last week. The plea, filed by advocate Shashank Shekhar Jha also sought orders against the state administration and police for their failure to control violence and demanded compensation and rehabilitation for the victims. Jha, in his plea filed against the state government and Centre, alleged that the violence was "political" in nature and was intended to target Hindus.
