PATNA, Jan. 17 -- Patients who intentionally provide incorrect personal information to healthcare providers such as AIIMS-Patna could face penalties of up to Rs.10,000 from May 13, 2027, when the institute has to become fully compliant with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Rules, 2025, under the DPDP Act, 2023.
Explaining the implications of the new law, Alvin Anthony, lawyer and chief compliance officer of Delhi NCR-based AI capacity-building firm GovernAI, said the provision would apply to deliberate misreporting of details such as age, address or blood group that could lead to incorrect processing of medical information.
