Islamabad, Nov. 10 -- Pakistan's proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment, will shake "the foundations of the Constitution", the country's Opposition has said, as it announced protests against the plan.
The amendment seeks to abolish the "Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee" position and introduce the "Chief of Defence Forces" title. It also aims to reduce the powers of the apex court, with some authorities shifted to a proposed Constitutional Court, and immunity to the president from criminal proceedings for life.P14
