India, Feb. 10 -- The Opposition has submitted a notice to move a resolution to remove Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla from office. A no-confidence motion with 118 signatures has been submitted to the Lok Sabha Secretary General.
Congress MPs signed the no-confidence motion against the Speaker. The notice was submitted by Congress leaders K Suresh and Gaurav Gogoi.
The move comes amid Opposition allegations that Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi was not allowed to speak in the Lok Sabha during the discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address.
The Lok Sabha witnessed repeated disruptions by Opposition benches demanding a discussion on the India-US trade framework.
