SILCHAR/ AGARTALA, July 10 -- One person died in Assam on Wednesday as a fresh flood hit the state after incessant rainfall, affecting over 29,000 people, officials from Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said.
According to an ASDMA report released on Wednesday, a total of 24 people have lost their lives due to the floods in the state this year so far. One death each was reported on Tuesday and Wednesday, both from Golaghat, officials said.
A total of 29,298 people, including 5,908 children, across 175 villages in five districts have been affected by the fresh floods, and the state government has opened 62 relief camps, ASDMA officials said.
