India, Oct. 16 -- The Supreme Court on Thursday cautioned against the ill-effects of unregulated social media in the wake of the shoe-throwing incident targeting Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai. The bench observed, "We are both product and consumer," and indicated it may consider hearing the matter after the Diwali break
It noted, "Let's see if saleable points are still left after a week."
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the court that he had granted consent for initiating contempt proceedings against advocate Rakesh Kishore, who allegedly threw a shoe at the CJI.
