India, Dec. 19 -- Facing public anger over a legislative move that made Odisha's lawmakers the highest-paid in the country with a 211% salary hike, BJP MLAs on Thursday urged chief minister Mohan Majhi to reconsider the decision. During a legislature party meeting attended by Majhi and state BJP president Manmohan Samal, lawmakers submitted a petition seeking a review of the four bills passed on December 9. The retrospective hike, effective June 2024, raised MLAs' monthly emoluments from Rs.1.11 lakh to Rs.3.45 lakh, and the chief minister's from Rs.98,000 to Rs.3.74 lakh. P9
