New Delhi/Patiala, Oct. 19 -- Delhi continued its losing battle with air pollution on Saturday, marking the fifth consecutive day of "poor" air quality index (AQI), and edging closer to the "very poor" category. The annual cocktail of unfavourable weather factors, bursting of firecrackers along with an uptick in farm fires is set to further deteriorate Delhi's air, with forecasts warning that the AQI could touch to the "severe" range by Tuesday. The 24-hour average AQI on Saturday was 268. Meanwhile, Punjab on Saturday clocked 33 new cases of stubble fires, marking the highest single-day spike in farm fire incidents that took the total to 241 this season, according to data from the Punjab Remote Sensing Centre.
