Silchar, Aug. 14 -- Nine people suspected to be Rohingya, who allegedly entered India illegally 13 years back, were detained by Assam police near the India-Bangladesh border in Cachar district, an officer said on Wednesday. The group comprised two men, two women, one teenage girl and four children.
They have been staying in India for many years. Recently, they travelled to Cachar with the intention of living in this area. They did not attempt to cross the border, but our team intercepted them before they could settle here," Cachar SSP Numal Mahatta said.HTC
