India, Dec. 2 -- The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has partnered with Reliance Jio to introduce a new mobile-based safety alert system aimed at improving travel safety on India's National Highway network. Under a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the system will use Jio's 4G and 5G telecom network to send advance warnings to travellers as they approach risky or hazardous road sections.

Highway users will receive alerts on their phones about accident-prone stretches, stray-cattle zones, fog-affected areas, emergency diversions and other danger spots.
