India, Sept. 23 -- The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is working on a plan to construct a 4.35km-long drainage system along the Badarpur Elevated Highway in southeast Delhi, in a project aimed at ending years of waterlogging on the busy stretch and surrounding neighbourhoods. Officials said the Rs.24.48-crore plan is expected to be executed within six months, with the tendering process likely to be completed by early November.

According to NHAI's project report, the new system will run across sections of the highway in both Delhi and Haryana. It will comprise precast drains with a depth of two metres and a width of two metres, designed with high load-bearing capacity.
