LUCKNOW, Sept. 2 -- The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has asked the district magistrate of Lucknow to submit an affidavit detailing the steps taken to recover environmental compensation (EC) from the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) in connection with improper disposal of plastic waste in the state capital.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) defines EC as a monetary penalty imposed on polluters, such as individuals or companies, to recover costs associated with environmental damage and to deter future violations.
