Never close friends with Arshad: Neeraj
New Delhi, May 16 -- For the second time in three weeks, javelin ace Neeraj Chopra played down his camaraderie with Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem who beat him to the Olympic gold last year in Paris. Speaking in a press conference on the eve of Doha Diamond League, Chopra said he never shared a strong bond with Nadeem.
"I want to make it clear that I didn't have a very strong relationship (with Nadeem). As athletes, we have to talk to each other, and I have some good friends in the athletics community around the world - not just javelin throwers. If someone talks to me respectfully, I also respond respectfully," the 27-year-old said.
