New Delhi, Nov. 12 -- India's gross direct tax collection saw a 2.15% increase at Rs.15.35 trillion in the current financial year up to November 10 as compared to about Rs.15.03 trillion in the same period in 2024-25, according to government data. Net collections, however, rose by 7% to Rs.12.92 trillion in about eight months of FY26 (April 1, 2025 to November 10, 2025) as against Rs.12.08 trillion in the same period in FY 25 because of a sharp fall in refunds. Total tax refunds in the current financial year up to November 10 were Rs.2,42,534.72 crore, about 18% lower than Rs.2,94,755.74 crore in the corresponding period of previous year, according to the latest data of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
