Nepalese man among 5 held for killing tribal woman in Assam
Silchar, Aug. 18 -- Five people, including a resident of Nepal, have been arrested from Assam's Dima Hasao on charges of murdering a 48-year-old tribal woman, police said.
According to the police, the woman, a native of Dima Hasao's Lonku area, went missing on August 13 while returning home from her tea stall and her body was recovered from a forest area the next day.
"A case was registered on the basis of the First Information Report (FIR) lodged by her family members...we have arrested five men, including a resident of Nepal in this connection," a police officer said.
The arrested people - Stephan Hanse (32), Abdul Mannan (39), Satya Acharya (45), Ravendra Singh Rana (37) and Ayon Chowdhury (30) - were working on a government construction...
