India, Feb. 19 -- The Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) and the Mumbai Traffic Police are cracking down on motorists speeding on the Mumbai Coastal Road. From February 13-17, authorities issued e-challans to nearly 600 vehicles, and the number is likely to go up as the drive continues for the rest of the month.

RTO officers said four flying squads have been deployed at key entry and exit points on the coastal road to monitor rash driving, racing, and other violations. The crackdown follows a racing incident earlier this year when two drivers had their licences suspended and vehicles seized after one of the cars crashed into a tunnel wall on the coastal road.
