India, Aug. 18 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a red alert for rain in Mumbai today, for the second time this week and nearly two days after heavy showers battered the city, which resulted to severe waterlogging and disruption in daily lives.
The red alert, the highest level in the weather panel's four-tier warning system, is in place today for Borivali, Thane, Kalyan, Mulund, Powai, Santa Cruz, Chembur, Worli, Navi Mumbai, and Colaba in Mumbai, as waterlogging continues to dot parts of the city, triggering traffic congestions.
Several other parts of Maharashtra have also been put under red, yellow and orange alerts for the day.
