Mohali, Aug. 21 -- The municipal corporation (MC) of Mohali has failed to rein in the growing stray dog menace, with the population now touching nearly 20,000. Alarmingly, around 40 dog-bite cases are being reported in the city every day. Despite the severity of the problem, Mohali still does not have a single dog shelter.
Official data reveals that Mohali's urban and rural areas recorded a total of 17,682 dog bite cases in 2024. The city has already reported 9,069 cases up to July this year, averaging approximately 40 incidents per day.
