Modi to assess rain damages in Punjab, Himachal on Sept 9
AMRITSAR/Shimla, Sept. 8 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Punjab and Himachal Pradesh on September 9, state Bharatiya Janata Party leaders said on Sunday. Both states have been ravaged by Monsoon fury. While Punjab has faced its worst floods since 1988, cloud bursts, flash floods and landslides have hit Himachal hard.
Punjab officials on Sunday reported an improvement in the situation with flood water receding in residential areas and inundated farms.
