New Delhi, Feb. 7 -- The Indian Air Force (IAF) said a Mirage 2000 fighter aircraft on Thursday crashed near Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh following a "system malfunction" and a probe has been ordered into the accident involving the French-origin plane.

The two pilots ejected safely, the IAF said in a statement. The aircraft was on a routine training sortie.

Gwalior inspector general of police (IGP) Arvind Saxena said that the incident took place around 2.30pm near the Sunari Chowki area of Shivpuri.

"The crash happened at around 2.30pm near Sunari Chowki in Narwar Tehsil, a few minutes after (the aircraft) took off from the Maharjpura airbase in Gwalior. Pilots ejected safely before it landed in the field," the IGP said, adding that both p...
