Kolkata/Pune, Feb. 13 -- West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday alleged that a 24-year-old migrant worker from the state was murdered in Pune for speaking Bengali, terming the incident a "hate crime", even as Pune Police dismissed the motive and said that the murder followed a drunken altercation with two individuals. Police said the incident took place late on February 9 in Koregaon village under the jurisdiction of Shikrapur police station. According to officials, the deceased, identified as Sukhen Mahato, was employed at a local industrial unit.
