Mumbai, Feb. 4 -- The Sensex and Nifty surged more than 2.5% each on Tuesday after India and the US announced their trade deal. The BSE Sensex closed at 83,739.13, up 2,072.67 points or 2.54%, its best single-day gain in eight months. The 50-share NSE Nifty rose 639.15 points or 2.55% to settle at 25,727.55. The rupee, meanwhile, emerged as the best-performing Asian currency, gaining 117 paise (1.28%) to settle at 90.32 against the US dollar, its best one-day gain since March 2020.P17
