Manufacturing PMI at 3-month low in May
new delhi, June 5 -- India's manufacturing activity, as measured by the HSBC India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), fell to a three-month low in May as growth in output and new orders slowed, according to a release by S&P Global on Monday. The PMI number came in at 57.6 in May, down from 58.2 in April and the lowest since February when it was 56.3. To be sure, the reading remained above the 50-mark, which indicates expansion over the last month and was also above the long-run average of 54.1. The index has remained above 50 for over three years now.
