new delhi, March 29 -- Experienced Indian wrestler Manisha Bhanwala claimed the gold medal at the Asian Championships by beating North Korea's Ok Ju Kim 8-7 in the women's 62kg final while Antim Panghal won bronze after losing her semi-final in Amman on Friday.
Manisha began with an easy technical superiority win over Kazakhstan's Tynys Dubek and pinned Korea's Hanbit Lee for another dominating victory.
The semi-final was no different as she conceded only one point to eventually win 5-1 against Kalmira Bilimbek Kyzy of Kyrgyzstan.
Only Kim stood between Manisha and her first ever Asian Championships title which she won in a closely fought contest, edging past the North Korean to secure India's first gold medal of the tournament.
