India, Oct. 10 -- A 1,400-metre-long underground pipeline worth Rs.2.5 crore has been laid on Thursday to ensure systematic discharge of wastewater from Manesar and Naharpur Kasan villages to prevent chronic waterlogging and sewage overflow, said officials on Thursday.

Officials said that a joint initiative was taken by the Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA ) on Thursday though the preparation was ongoing. The sewage will now be directed to the 25 MLD (million litres per day) sewage treatment plant (STP) located in IMT Sector 6, which was constructed by GMDA last month at an estimated cost of Rs.36 crore.
