NEW DELHI, May 15 -- The economic offences wing (EOW) of Delhi Police arrested a 44-year-old man for allegedly duping members of a religious sect of Rs.9 crore between 2017 and 2020, under the pretext of investing in high-return schemes. Mohit Wadhwa alias Manu, a resident of Rajouri Garden, was arrested on May 9, police said. Police said an FIR was lodged on July 27, 2021, based on a complaint from a victim, Gurpreet Kaur Rai, and three other families allegedly duped by Wadhwa. "They alleged Wadhwa and his associates lured them into investing in dubious schemes, supposedly based in Dubai," DCP(EOW) Amit Verma said.
