Bhopal, Feb. 4 -- A man was allegedly beaten to death by a group of local residents after he allegedly tried to rape a woman and killed her when she resisted him in Raisen district, police said on Tuesday.
Police have detained six people for lynching Prakash Singh Bhilada, 24, a resident of Bharatipur village of Raisen district. Bhilada attacked the 21-year-old woman's jaw and neck with a sickle after she resisted the sexual assault on Monday. The woman died on the spot.
Bhilada tried to flee but was caught by some villagers. He was badly beaten and sustained serious injuries, additional superintendent of police Kamlesh Kumar Kharpuse said on Tuesday, adding that Bhilada was taken to a hospital but he died during treatment.
