m.p. inspector killed in maoist encounter
Bhopal, Nov. 20 -- A 26-year-old inspector of Madhya Pradesh police was killed on Wednesday in an encounter with Maoists in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgrah during a joint operation by security forces of MP, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.
Anti-Naxal Operations deputy general of police Pankaj Srivastava said, "Information was received about Maoists hiding near Bor Talab on the border of three states. Upon arrival, the police asked them for surrender but they started firing. The force also retaliated. In the gun fight, inspector Ashish Sharma, who was leading the team, was shot. He was rushed to the hospital in an injured condition, where doctors declared him dead."
