Bhopal, Nov. 16 -- A row erupted in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday after state higher education minister Inder Singh Parmar described social reformer Raja Ram Mohan Roy as a "British agent". Addressing an event marking the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon Birsa Munda, Parmar claimed individuals who facilitated religious conversions were glorified as reformers, while true heroes were overlooked. "Missionary schools run by the British were the only means of education, where a vicious cycle of religious conversion was taking place.
