India, July 11 -- A 24-year-old woman was killed in Sardinia earlier this week after being struck by an SUV allegedly driven by Vivian Spohr, wife of Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr.

The fatal collision occurred on Tuesday in Porto Cervo, a popular seaside resort in northern Sardinia's Gallura region.

The victim, Gaia Costa, a resident of nearby Tempio Pausania, died at the scene from severe head injuries, according to local media reports. She had reportedly been crossing at a pedestrian crosswalk when she was hit.

On Friday, Vivian Spohr issued a statement through her Italian lawyer expressing "dismay and deep sorrow for this grave accident, which has devastated a family, the town of Tempio, and the entire community of Gallura," news agen...
