Lucknow can teach other cities their ABCs
New Delhi, Sept. 1 -- Last week, I visited Lucknow's ABC (Animal Birth Control) Centre.
Not only was I surprised to see how clean it was, but I was impressed with its professionalism. First, the Lucknow Nagar Nigam realised running an ABC Centre was not its core competence. So it smartly partnered with an NGO, Humane World for Animals, giving it a big enough building and funds. Second, it is data-based. Every dog receives a unique ID that links with its details. Other information is also digitised. This enables smart strategies by the Lucknow Nagar Nigam. For example, the centre notes young children are particularly susceptible to dog bites.
