New Delhi, Aug. 16 -- Delhi's civic archives have yielded a remarkable find - a leather-bound visitors' book chronicling the city's mid-20th-century role as a stage for post-colonial diplomacy. Discovered during a routine record-room cleanup last year, the ledger has been carefully restored by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA). Dating from the 1950s to the 1980s, its fading ink preserves signatures, messages and sketches from foreign dignitaries who visited Delhi's Town Hall in Chandni Chowk - then the Capital's ceremonial hub. Among the earliest entries is Soong Ching-ling, "Mother of Modern China", in 1955, followed by Premier Zhou Enlai in 1956, both invoking the "Hindi-Chini Bhai Bhai" slogan just years before the 1...
