Logistics: Inland waterways, coastal cargo get a boost
New Delhi, Feb. 2 -- Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday announced new dedicated freight corridors connecting Dankuni in the east to Surat in the west and 20 new national waterways (NW) over the next five years, starting with National Waterways-5 in Odisha to connect the mineral-rich areas of Talcher and Angul and industrial centres such as Kalinga Nagar to the ports of Paradeep and Dhamra.
Nirmala Sitharaman said training institutes will be established as regional centres of excellence for the development of the required manpower.
