Kolkata, July 14 -- The Kolkata police on Sunday formed a nine-member special investigation team (SIT) to probe the alleged rape of a 24-year-old woman by a student on the campus of the Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta, officers aware of the matter said. The National Commission for Women (NCW) and its state counterpart, meanwhile, have registered suo motu cases in the incident.
According to police, the incident took place on July 11 when the accused, Paramanand Mahaveer Toppannawar (26), a second-year student at IIM-C, had called the complainant, a psychologist, to the campus in for a counselling session.P8
