India, May 8 -- The Kartarpur Corridor in Gurdaspur district of Punjab was shut for the day and the beating retreat ceremony at the Attari border in Amritsar was cancelled amid the ongoing escalation of conflict. The ministry of home affairs' bureau of immigration announced the closure of the Kartarpur Corridor "till further orders". However, Gurdaspur DC Dalwinderjit Singh said the corridor was shut for Wednesday, adding the administration did not receive orders for further closure. Nearly 150 pilgrims who arrived at Kartarpur corridor around 9am were asked to return after an hour-long wait at the check post. P6
