India, Nov. 20 -- A newborn baby died at the district hospital in Karnataka after reportedly falling to the floor just moments after delivery, triggering outrage among the family and forcing authorities to order a high-level inquiry.

The incident took place on Tuesday when 30-year-old Roopa Karabannanavar from Kakol village near Ranebennur arrived at the hospital in active labour, news agency PTI reported.
