Kamra, Andhare cite fundamental right in reply to privilege notice
MUMBAI, Feb. 7 -- Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sushama Andhare have defended their comments on deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde, citing their fundamental right to freedom of expression, officials aware of the matters said.
In their replies to notices by the Maharashtra Assembly's privileges committee, they said that their statement is not in violation of any law, the officials said. The notices were sent in July last year.
Kamra and Andhare were summoned before the committee headed on Thursday, but the hearing was postponed after Andhare requested more time.
