Chennai, May 29 -- Actor Kamal Haasan, 70, of the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), is all set to enter Rajya Sabha, courtesy the party's ally and Tamil Nadu's ruling party, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. The DMK on Wednesday allocated a seat to the MNN-- which nominated party chief Haasan-- as it announced four candidates for the June 19 biennial election to the Rajya Sabha. The DMK, with the support of its allies, is virtually assured of getting four candidates elected. Haasan, meanwhile, is embroiled in a controversy over his statement that "Tamil gave birth to Kannada". Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah questioned his knowledge of history and several pro-Kannada groups staged protests.P8
