K'taka caste survey from Sept 22: CM
India, July 24 -- The Karnataka government will conduct a comprehensive socio-educational survey popularly known as the caste census covering the entire population of the state from September 22 to October 7, chief minister Siddaramaiah announced on Wednesday during a preparatory meeting. The survey, proposed by the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes, aims to gather data on economic status, land ownership, and social identity to serve as a basis for policy and budget decisions. "The Commission has submitted a proposal to the government to carry out a socio-educational survey. As per the plan, all 7 crore people of the state will be surveyed. The main objective is to eliminate caste-based discrimination," the chief minister said...
