New Delhi, May 14 -- Justice Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai will be sworn in as the 52nd Chief Justice of India on Wednesday, succeeding Justice Sanjiv Khanna after his six-month term. Justice Gavai, who will become only the second person from the Dalit community to occupy the country's highest judicial office, will demit on November 23 this year. Born on November 24, 1960, in the Frezarpura locality of Amravati town, Justice Gavai's father, the late RS Gavai, served as the governors of Bihar, Sikkim and Kerala.
