India, April 8 -- An American genetic engineering company that has been working to de-extinct ancient species like the woolly mammoth and the dodo bird stunned the world by revealing that they have revived the dire wolf, a species that has been extinct for over 12,500 years.

Colossal Biosciences announced what is now being called the "world's first de-extinction" with the birth of three dire wolf puppies named -- Romulus, Remus and Khaleesi.
