New Delhi, Nov. 20 -- The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Jawed Ashraf, retired Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of 1991 batch as the chairman of the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), a nodal agency under the ministry of commerce and industry, a government order said on Wednesday. According to the order, issued by the ACC secretary, Ashraf will assume the role on a contract basis for a period of two years from the date he takes charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. His appointment will be governed by the usual terms and conditions applicable to re-employed central government officers.
