Japanese firms agree to invest $3.4 billion in India
New Delhi, Jan. 2 -- India has secured more than $3.4 billion (Rs.30,770 crore) in investment commitments from Japanese companies, even as New Delhi and Tokyo plan to establish a dedicated sub-committee on trade in goods under the existing free trade agreement to boost and balance bilateral commerce, two officials said.
The investment commitments, facilitated during India's participation in World Expo 2025 in Osaka between April 13 and October 13, 2025, span sectors including recyclable plastics, agricultural machinery, artificial intelligence data centres, heating, ventilation and air conditioning research and development, solar manufacturing, electric mobility and green hydrogen, a commerce ministry spokesperson said.
