New Delhi, May 17 -- Jammu & Kashmir is negotiating for a stake and revenue share in the 1,856MW Sawalkot hydro power pro- ject on the Chenab river with state-run NHPC Ltd, as it seeks to secure a direct income stream, said three people in the know seeking anonymity. NHPC estimates that the project will require an investment of Rs.22,700 crore. The state-run firm has spent Rs.973 crore on a detailed project report (DPR). The project is expected to generate an annual revenue of approximately Rs.4,024 crore at a projected tariff of Rs.5.5 per unit and a plant load factor of around 45%, according to industry estimates.
