JAMMU, Feb. 7 -- Jammu and Kashmir Police and Kathua district administration have ordered magisterial and fact-finding probes after a 25-year-old man, accused of being involved in militancy, reportedly died by suicide following alleged harassment by police, officials said.

According to police, the man allegedly died by suicide at his residence in Kathua district on Wednesday after he was called for routine questioning in context of his uncle, allegedly involved in terrorist activities and hiding in Pakistan.

Taking note of the incident, Kathua district magistrate ordered a magisterial inquiry. "A magisterial probe is required in this case to ascertain the cause of death," the DM said in an order.
